For the 3rd Annual Gingerbread House event, the League gathered at the old Mauk residence, Paula having pre-baked her gingerbread earlier that day. We then set about trumping last year's creations. After the ceremony (poorly documented here) we all watched Will Vinton's Claymation Christmas, which was a pretty saccharine event for this crowd, but a success nonetheless. Later that night I ate all the leftovers, and now my tummy hurts.

Paula returns from Senegal and treats us all to an authentic Senegalese Ramadan "breaking-the-fast" meal. At sundown we eat chocolate sandwiches and dates, and wild spicy coffee. Then we digest while Paula prepares the huge communal dishes, which we will eat by balling up the chicken and rice in our (right!) hand.

My favorite part of Halloween: Sitting on the porch with a bowl of candy for trick-or-treaters. In Ithaca it is apparently appropriate for highscoolers (and some college students!) to trick-or-treat along with the groups of 5-year-olds. I thought this was absurd, but you can't refuse someone who says "trick or treat." You just can't.
Anyway, some huge guy (could have been 19, 20) dressed in a black hoodie (!) came onto my porch and took some candy. Then he asked for beer. I told him to wait for drunkoween.
Here are some pictures from drunkoween. As to their quality, I appeal to the holiday we were celebrating.

Tim visited me a few weekends ago, and took these pictures of the afterparty for the semester's first Shrimp show (sorry, Tim, the pictures of the show itself didn't come out). This is Mark's new place, and it held what might go down as a truly classic Shrimpfest. Not pictured here: Skits (new ones, old ones, red ones, blue ones), shirtless Allen (that cocky fucker--dare me to a shirtless dance-off, will you?), Tim and Pete brawling on the front lawn, etc.

Last month we took on 3 Shrimpettes, and boy can they drink! Aside from someone (cough--Noah--cough) vomiting in my sink and leaving it there, this was a successful night of sing-alongs and wrestling, and a christening of the new place on Aurora St.
Also, Julie beat up Brian in wrestling. Oh, and Pete chased some deer across the alumni field.
And Jenni had a good time! At a Shrimp party!

We decided to climb to the highest peak in Maryland. This was pretty close (the actualy highest peak was right next to it, but it would have been harder to orchestrate parking at the base). So we hiked all day and got to the top, took a nap, started a fire, lit up some Punches and headed back down. Spectacular stuff. We spent the night in Westminster with Jon and Caitlin. We had thought about camping out at the top, hence the huge superfluous packs.
